School Action Teams

This is a numbers game. To push our elected leaders into taking urgent climate action, we need a groundswell of public comments and other forms of advocacy. Right now, many Georgians are unaware of the critical role our Public Service Commissioners and state legislators play in transitioning Georgia to clean energy. Help change that by spreading the word at your high school, college, or university! You can get involved at any level (see below), and your efforts will count toward volunteer hours.

Sign up here, and we can connect you with any others who also sign up from your institution.

A Little Extra

(Ongoing each month, 30-60 minutes)

Starting in February, we’ll send out an action alert nearly every month through June. After you receive the alert, help spread the word by posting flyers or sharing social media. We’ll provide printable posters, and shareable

Instagram posts to help make your job easier.  For Resource Materials, see below.

Above and Beyond

(Choose your level of involvement—be as creative as you like!)

Engage your school actively:

  • Write an article for your school newspaper or magazine.

  • Set up a table in the cafeteria to distribute information.

  • Organize or encourage students to take action from the volunteer sign-up form.

  • Create and share social media content to raise awareness.

  • Attend a RiseUp for Clean Energy virtual planning meeting.

Resource Materials

We will update this section with additional flyers, posters and letters. Feel free to use the material as is or to edit to add your voice. If you have materials to share, please send them are way!

1. Letter to science teachers requesting that they show the video.

The Basics

Promote the video and the website.

High School: Grab a friend (or a few!) and reach out to your school’s science department. Ask them to show the video in class—it could have an even bigger impact if an environmental or service club makes the request. Here’s a customizable letter you can use, or feel free to edit it to suit your style. Be sure to watch the video first, and make both a verbal and written request.

College: Connect with clubs and organizations to direct them to the website. Use this form letter as a template, or create your own message. You can also post flyers in high-traffic areas around campus—cafeterias, hallways, bulletin boards, etc
